A man threatened to publish pictures of a woman he met her on a website’s chat room after she decided to drop him because her relationship with the husband was improving, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
The court was told that when the relationship of the woman, NA, with her husband got better, she decided to break up with the 25-year-old jobless Syrian, MW, whom she had met on a website’s chat room. But MW refused and threatened to publish her pictures if she cut off ties.
During their relationship, the two exchanged phone numbers and talked through video conferencing.
The woman told police that she met the so-called ‘Rayan’ in a chat room on the internet and exchanged telephone numbers with him.
“I did not know that when I was talking to him he was recording the video. He also hacked my laptop and stole my pictures and videos. He used to ask me to show him my mobile phone’s call registration so as to be sure that I was not talking to anyone else. Through that, he got my friends and relatives' phone numbers and started talking to them badly about me and my relationship with him,” she told the police.
NA told her husband about him and they lodged a complaint with the police.
The court will reconvene on January 12, 2014.
